Dress Code
Dress codes are established to promote learning and unity within a classroom setting. Please read our complete dress code to help ensure your child has dressed appropriately for his or her dance classes. Find complete dress code information here.
Communication
All class communication and announcements will take place through email. Please be sure to check and read your emails regularly, and thoroughly, so you don’t miss anything!
Attendance Policy
Good attendance is crucial, as absences hold back the individual, as well as the whole class from reaching their greatest potential. Please make every effort to have your child in class every week. If you must miss a class please notify us, as we care about you and strive to keep open communication. 3 excused absences are allowed. This includes sick days, funerals, etc., and excludes events such as birthday parties, football games, etc. Individual assessment to follow for excessive absences. No refunds or deductions are given for missed classes.
Commitment
When you register for our program, please know that you are committing to an entire season with us. If you choose to drop out of classes for a month or more, you will be charged a re-registration fee, as we will have to re-enter you into our system. You will also not be guaranteed a spot in your previous class, as all slots are limited. We firmly believe in committing to a consistent training curriculum, and hope to be that for all of our dance students. That being said, we do not hold ownership over our dance students and do offer drop-in-class options for students that are choosing MDC to supplement their training. We want what’s best for all of our dance community, and are thrilled to be a part of your dance education!
Lobby Areas
Please respect these common areas and keep them neat and clean. No food or gum should be brought into the studio.
Parent Watch Policy
To eliminate all distractions and interruptions, we DO NOT allow parents or visitors in the classrooms. Unless enrolled for Wee dance (Caretaker and Me class), all young students are expected to participate, without a parent, for the full length of the class. Please check our calendar for specific parent observation days set throughout the year.
Injuries/Insurance
Parents, legal guardians of minors, students, and visitors waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on the studio’s property resulting from any dance activity, or any other activity, conducted by the students before, during, or after class. We require that all students be covered by their family insurance policy. If injuries occur, it is understood that the studio will not be held responsible.
Lost & Found
Lost and found items are placed in a designated bin in the studio’s lobby. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the season. The studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please write your child’s name is all common items, such as shoes, apparel, and water bottles.
Studio closings
For holidays and inclement weather, we generally follow the decisions made by Polk County School Districts. We will always send an email and post on social media if a class is canceled for any reason. If you’re ever unsure, please check your email or call the studio. We will not close for teacher workdays.
Covid 19 and other Safety Guidelines
At MDC, our main priority is the safety of our community during these unprecedented times. We want you to know that we promise to keep you feeling safe and comfortable during our in-person classes. Midwest Dance Collective will follow policies set forth by the Ankeny Community School District.
