Dress codes are established to promote learning and unity within a classroom setting.

Please read our complete dress code to ensure your child is dressed appropriately for their dance classes. There are specific instructions for each technique.

  • No jewelry, including necklaces, bracelets, and dangling or hoop earrings; studs are acceptable

  • No Apple watches in class

  • No long acrylic nails

  • Hair should always be pulled back and out of the face 

  • Please follow proper hygiene practices 

Midwest Dance Collective Apparel

  • Girls: skin colored or pink tights, ballet shoes to match tights (skin colored or pink), black leotard (levels 1-5), hair in a bun.

    *Wee Dance, Pre-Primary, and Primary classes are to wear Leotards with short skirts attached (any color). Tights are not required for Wee Dance.

    Boys: black tights, white tank or t-shirt, black ballet shoes, white socks, hair out of eyes. Dance belts are encouraged for all male dancers and required for those ages 11 and up.

  • Girls: leotard, jazz shoes, black tights, leggings or an appropriate length short. No booty shorts. Hair in a ponytail or bun.

    Required for performance: Bloch Super Jazz in tan.

    Recommended for class: Sansha Tivoli canvas jazz shoe.

    Boys: tight fitting shirt and either athletic shorts or a relatively tight fitting pant.

    *specific color and style shoe may be required for specific choreography/performance

  • Girls: leotard, jazz shoes, black tights, leggings or an appropriate length short. No booty shorts. Hair in a ponytail or bun.

    Required for performance: Bloch Super Jazz in tan

    Recommended for class: Sansha Tivoli canvas jazz shoe. Heels may be needed depending on choreography.

    Boys:: tight fitting shirt and either athletic shorts or a relatively tight fitting pant.

    *specific color and style shoe may be required for specific choreography/performance

  • Girls: leotard, black convertible tights or leggings, hair pulled back, barefoot

    Boys: black tights, leggings, or form fitting pants, tank or t-shirt, barefoot

  • Girls: leotard, black tights, leggings or an appropriate length short. No booty shorts. Hair in a ponytail or bun.

    Boys: tight fitting shirt and either athletic shorts or a relatively tight fitting pant.

    *specific color and style shoe may be required for specific choreography/performance

    May be barefoot, jazz shoes, or socks depending on the class.

  • Girls: leotard, black tights, leggings or an appropriate length short. No booty shorts. Hair in a ponytail or bun.

    Boys: tight fitting shirt and either athletic shorts or a relatively tight fitting pant.

    Black Tap shoes

  • Clothes that are easy to move in and free of distraction, tennis shoes.

  • A leotard (any color), pink or skin tone transitional tights, barefoot

  • Please wear comfortable athletic wear or dance attire with proper dance shoes for each technique.

    • Jazz: jazz shoes, dance socks, or barefoot

    • Ballet: ballet slippers, dance socks, or barefoot

    • Modern/Contemporary: dance socks or barefoot

    • Hip-Hop: clean sneakers (not your everyday street shoes — this is to protect our dance floors)
